Play: We.The.People

Dr. Wilson's book "The Idea of America" and the programs that were developed from it are the inspiration for this new play. We are proud to be part of this ongoing faith-based liberal arts educational program.

Bankside Repertory Theatre,

in partnership with Principia College Department of Theatre and Dance
proudly presents a world premiere of
J. C. Steele’s latest play:

bankside theatre

This new play will premiere at the Davis Theatre on the Principia College campus on June 2, 3, and 4, 2022.

All performances are at 7:30pm. The grand opening with reception is Saturday, June 4. This new work, commissioned by Dr. John Oliver Wilson, Founder and Director of the Idea of America Network, explores the evolving idea of the rights and responsibilities of United States citizenship against the backdrop of history, economics, and social justice.

The audience is brought into the world of the play as a Tour Group at the fictional “Hall of Legends” in Washington, D. C. When the high-tech presentation of “The Legends” goes off-kilter due to technical difficulties, the audience is treated to a spontaneous interactive discussion of what it means to be a member of “We the People.” This thought-provoking comedy is a lively theatrical event appropriate for all ages, but edgy enough to ensure an on-going discussion long after the play has concluded.

The Davis Theatre sits conveniently on the campus of Principia College and is an ideal venue for such an event. Bankside Repertory is an independent, professional theatre company whose mission is to present thought-provoking works—new and classic—that inspire transformative experiences to promote peace-building and inspiration to its audience and community. Principia College Theatre and Dance Department offers students exciting opportunities to study and train with excellent professors and master teachers, perform, design, and direct in state of the art facilities, and connect with professionals, all within the context of a faith-based, liberal arts education.

Tickets are free for this limited-run event, but seating is limited, so reservations are required. Please email ticket requests to:
